Ascendo Resources is actively seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join the team of our client in the healthcare located in the Bronx. This position is full time, fully onsite, and temp-to-perm.

This role will be responsible for documenting expenses, managing Accounts Payable information, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of general accounting principles, particularly in nonprofit reporting, and be capable of providing training and guidance on nonprofit financial practices. Key responsibilities include processing journal entries, maintaining weekly updates, overseeing cash flow, and preparing profit and loss statements and balance sheets.

Job Title: Staff Accountant
Pay Rate: $35/hr - $40/hr
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Understand and document expenses, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Process information from Accounts Payable, including invoice breakdowns and allocations.
• Post journal entries and monitor cash flow to ensure financial stability.
• Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements.
• Provide training and guidance on nonprofit financial practices.
• Handle reimbursements and ensure proper documentation.
• Track expenses for grants and allocate costs accordingly.
• Document expenses and report spending accurately for grants.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and nonprofit reporting standards.
• Proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and train others on nonprofit financial practices.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
